NFL players will consent to a urine test for Human Growth Hormone once such a test is developed.

Scientists, however, appear to be closer to developing a blood test for Cheap HGH, which stimulates growth and cell reproduction in humans.

We all know there is no reliable test for HGH,” Gene Upshaw, executive director of the NFL Players Association said Thursday at the union’s Super Bowl news conference. “Until a test is developed for HGH sale, there’s really not an awful lot to talk about. And when that test is developed, we really believe it should be a urine test. No one is interested in a blood test. We got a lot of big tough guys, but they don’t even like to be pricked on the finger to give blood.

Commissioner Roger Goodell has said repeatedly since taking office just before the 2006 season that the league would implement a test for Best HGH as soon as one was found.

Upshaw’s stance is similar to the one taken by baseball, which has pledged to adopt any validated urine test but does not want to test blood.

Baseball officials have said there is no commercially available validated test for HGH Hormone. John Fahey, head of the World Anti-Doping Agency, disputes that, saying two weeks ago that “the storing of blood is practical, in fact has been effectively in practice for some time in World Anti-Doping Code-compliant testing.

Safety Rodney Harrison of the unbeaten New England Patriots, the favorites in Sunday’s Super Bowl with the New York Giants, was suspended last Aug. 31 for the first four games of the season after he admitted using “a banned substance” for the purpose of “accelerating the healing process.

Harrison did not acknowledge what the substance was, although he said this week he had made a mistake “and learned from it.

At the time of the suspension, reported that Harrison admitted he obtained hgh supplement.

On the subject of labor, Upshaw said he expects the NFL’s owners to opt out of the current agreement later this year. If that happens, the players’ union is ready for a strike or the decertification tactics it used to get free agency after the 1987 walkout, although nothing major would happen until 2010, which would be a year without a salary cap.

If they want to get out of the deal, there’s nothing we can do about it,” Upshaw said. “But we’ll be prepared.

The agreement was reached after tough bargaining in March 2006, and gave both sides the right to opt out in November. That would lead to 2010 being an uncapped year before the contract expires in 2011.

Several owners, including Denver’s Pat Bowlen and New England’s Robert Kraft, have suggested that the current agreement is leaving some teams cash-strapped, making it likely some owners will opt out next year.

Upshaw said that he’s heard the complaints and is ready for any outcome.

At our meeting in March, our priorities for discussion are four options: strike, lockout, decertification or extension,” he said.

Extension has been the route of choice for the NFL since its agreement in 1993 that added free agency and a salary cap for the first time.

The league had been without a contract since its last strike in 1987. After the players returned to work, the union decertified and filed an antitrust suit, which they eventually won. That led to the current CBA, which ended six years without a contract.

In the last 14 years, the contract has been extended numerous times before expiration.

Upshaw said he has discussed the topic with Goodell and would continue past November, if necessary, to try to reach an agreement.

But he warned that the players, who currently get 60 percent of the revenue, will not accept anything lower than that figure. And he said if the two sides get to an uncapped year, there would be no turning back.

There is not a player in the league who doesn’t understand that if we ever get to that point without a cap, we will never have another one again,” he said.

Upshaw said the biggest disagreement is among small-market and large-market owners who disagree over non-shared revenue, such as local advertising, concessions and parking. Advertising and local broadcasting rights, in particular, tend to be greater in larger markets or among teams with new stadiums.

In the 2006 agreement, which was the most difficult to reach since the 1993 agreement, the players got an extra $850 million to $900 million in the form of revenue sharing, raising the salary cap for 2007 to $107 million. Upshaw estimated it will be $116 million for 2008.

Everyone’s doing well,” he said. “The owners say they’re not making money. I think everyone is making money. This isn’t hockey, where the players agreed to a 25 percent pay cut. We’re not going to do anything like that.

Most noticeably, an increase in body fat mass and a decrease in lean muscle mass. There can also be an increase in triglyceride levels and a decrease in HDL levels, less bone density, fatigue and depression. Thus, what used to be regarded as the “normal” signs of aging are most often caused by the lack of the body’s own Cheap hGH and may, therefore, be reversible.

One of the most important things you can do is make sure your child receives his or her Norditropin® injection every night. Be sure to keep regular appointments with the pediatric endocrinologist. The growth hormone dose will be carefully adjusted many times to ensure maximum benefit. Proper nutrition with healthy, well-balanced meals and plenty of exercise and fresh air are important too, and so is being there to support your child emotionally.

And don’t forget to remind your child that growing isn’t just about how tall a person gets. Growing means trying new things and working hard to be the best you can be in school, in sports, music, art, or anything you choose to do.

Novel treatment strategies for major depression with broader treatment success or a more rapid onset of action would have immense impact on public health, a new study published in the December 1st issue of Biological Psychiatry explains. This new study reports findings that support the evaluation of a potential new antidepressant agent.

According to the lead author on this study, Kamilla Miskowiak, MSc: “Although depression is often related to problems in the chemistry of the brain, recent evidence also suggests that there may be structural problems as well with nerve cells not being regenerated as fast as normal or suffering from toxic effects of stress and stress hormones.” This led the researchers to evaluate the effects of erythropoietin (Epo), a hormone naturally produced by the kidneys that stimulates the formation of red blood cells and is known as a treatment for anemia. The authors explain that new evidence shows that Epo also “has neuroprotective and neurotrophic effects in animal models and affects cognitive and associated neural responses in humans,” suggesting that it may be a candidate in the treatment of depression.

In this study, Miskowiak and colleagues evaluated the effects of Epo on the neural and cognitive processing of emotional information in healthy volunteers using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). They found that Epo regulated the emotional responses of those volunteers that received it, similar to the effects of current canadian antidepressants.

Ms. Miskowiak explains that “this finding provides support to the idea that Epo affects neural function and may be a candidate agent for future treatment strategies for depression.” John H. Krystal, M.D., Editor of Biological Psychiatry and affiliated with both Yale University School of Medicine and the VA Connecticut Healthcare System, confirms its potential: “Epo appears to have neurotrophic effects in the brain in animals. The current data suggest that Epo may modulate human brain activity associated with the processing of emotion. Together, there may now be sufficient evidence to justify evaluating the antidepressant effects of Epo and related compounds in humans.”

Once again, the headlines in newspapers’ sports pages are spotlighting human growth hormone (HGH), the latest performance-enhancing drug reportedly used by some professional baseball players.

I asked a colleague who specializes in disorders of the pituitary gland whether a healthy, strong young athlete could get any benefit from injections of HGH. He told me it can help them develop more muscle tissue.

It’s unlikely, he added, that healthy young athletes will suffer serious ill effects from short-term use of HGH. But it’s also uncertain whether Super HGH will make them stronger, let alone boost their home run totals or (for pitchers) lower their earned run averages.

Cheap HGH is essential for normal growth during childhood and continues to play an important role in body metabolism later in life. Because HGH levels fall as one ages, you may have heard about Super Human Growth Hormone replacement as a way to overcome some of the less welcome aspects of aging: loss of muscle and bone mass, increased risk of fractures, and accumulation of fat, especially around the belly.

What does the research say? Giving HGH to healthy older adults does indeed increase muscle mass and decrease body fat. But claims for other benefits of HGH replacement in the elderly, such as greater strength and better mental function, have not been proven. Giving HGH to older adults has also been associated with side effects like joint pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, fluid retention, and abnormal glucose metabolism.

Though HGH replacement in the elderly still holds some promise, problems remain. Who knows whether there are dangerous long-term effects? Human Growth Hormone replacement is also expensive (around $1,000 per month) and painful, since it must be injected. The HGH pills hawked over the Internet are a rip-off – they don’t work. And it’s illegal to sell or buy HGH for injection without a prescription.

Meanwhile, pharmaceutical companies are working to develop pills that stimulate the body’s secretion of HGH. One of these products, capromorelin, has been studied in elderly men and women with mild functional limitations. The pills increased HGH secretion and lean muscle mass and led to modest improvements in some physical functions.

Capromorelin has not been approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The author of the study pointed out that the FDA will be cautious in approving any anti-aging drug because aging is not considered a “disease or medical condition that requires treatment.”

So don’t get too excited about HGH Growth Hormone as a potential anti-aging wonder drug. For the near future, at least, your best bet for staying healthy as you age is to eat a proper diet and get enough regular exercise to maintain muscle mass and limit body fat.
